Oakland Raiders backup quarterback and smoking hot former Miss America Carrie Prejean are getting married. This Friday. Really. This will be Boller’s claim to fame because it certainly isn’t going to happen on the football field. He should have plenty of time to work on the center/quarterback exchange prior to the opening of Raiders training camp late next month.

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis like fast food. In a new book released by New Orleans head coach Sean Payton titled Home Team, Payton details his interviewing process with Al Davis. Davis supposedly asked Payton to dinner while interviewing Payton for several days and dined on McDonalds burgers and KFC cole slaw in Davis’ office.

And this guy is responsible for hiring Lane Kiffin? Maybe Lane liked the toys in the happy meal.

The Oakland Raiders finally got DE Richard Seymour’s signature. Seymour inked his exclusive rights contract worth over 12 million dollars over the weekend. He is now obligated to attend all team activities and attend training camp.

The Raiders training camp opens on July 29 in Napa.

The next order of business for Oakland is the signing of the Raiders draft selections.

Bey. Boom or Bust?

The Oakland Raiders get set on starting 2010 after jettisoning one former first round bust, JaMarcus Russell, now will another first rounder live up to expectations or hit the road? Darrius Heyward- Bey. DHB was a surprise selection of the Oakland raiders in 2009, but failed to live up to his draft position.

Heyward-Bey, 6’2″ 210 pounds, is a fleet footed receiver who bombed in his rookie year, recording 9 catches for 124 yards and a score. Last year could be erased as a fluke with a strong performance this year and the Raiders are going to need him to step up. The revolving door approach at quarterback last year couldn’t have helped Bey at all, and this year he’ll have an NFL starting caliber quarterback in Jason Campbell lobbing the ball.

Early indications from camp are good. Jerry McDonald of the ContraCostaTimes.com said, “Can’t roll my eyes any more when Tom Cable tells how much Darrius Heyward-Bey has improved. Best practice I’ve ever seen him have, and there isn’t anything else that’s even a close second.”

Even Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha said it was DHB’s best practice. McDonald went on to even say he hasn’t seen a Raiders passing offense look this good in years.

The accolades didn’t stop there however, even Paul Gutierrez of the Scaremento Bee raved about DHB. “Who was that “masked” man in the No. 85 jersey looking like a legit No. 1 NFL receiver at the Raiders open OTA practice on Wednesday?’ Gutierrez wrote.

Yes, these are only OTA’s and training camp is a long way off, but it appears that the Raiders might finally be putting the pieces together and DHB could be primed for a breakout year with Campbell under center in 2010. Don’t forget about Darrius Heyward-Bey come draft time for your fantasy teams. He will most likely fall in many drafts and could wind up being a true sleeper pick this season.
